DEVONtechnologies has updated its information manager DEVONthink Professional and its Internet research assistant DEVONagent. DEVONthink Professional 1.2is most import new feature is the use of bookmarklets, which are JavaScript commands added to bookmarks that perform a function when clicked, rather than loading a URL.

The DEVONthink Professional upgrade also includes support for QuickTime data types added by third-party components and comes with scripts for importing del.icio.us bookmarks as well as for creating "smart groups" that represent a phrase search or all items modified within the last seven days. Other performance improvements are also included.

DEVONagent 2.0.2 supports bookmarklets in its bookmarks drawer and features an inline advertisement filter that blocks inline ads provided by major search engines. In addition to other performance improvements, DEVONagent 2.0.2 scans Web pages for linked business cards in the common vCard standard (files with the file name extension ".vcf").

These are free updates for existing users. Both of them require Mac OS X v10.3.9 or higher. DEVONthink Professional sells for US$79.95, while DEVONagent sells for $49.95. Both applications are also available as the "Infoworkeris Pro Bundle" for $99.95. Owners of DEVONthink Personal can upgrade to DEVONthink Professional for $45 and DEVONagent 1.x can be upgraded to DEVONagent 2.x for $19.95.
