Default Folder Receives Update

St. Clair Software has updated their Finder enhancement utility, Default Folder, to version 3.0.8b2. Default Folder simplifies the process of navigating Open and Save dialog boxes, and the new version includes several bug fixes, including a conflict with AppleScript. According to St. Clair Software:

St. Clair Software has posted an updated public beta version of Default Folder, its popular enhancement for Open and Save dialogs. In addition to being compatible with Mac OS 9.1 and OS X Classic, Default Folder 3.0.8b2 offers better overall compatibility, a correction for a bug that could cause crashes in AppleScript scripts, and a new scripting addition that allows AppleScripts to control file dialogs.

Default Folder is a Mac OS 9 savvy control panel that enhances Open and Save dialog boxes to make it easier for Macintosh users to manage their files. It provides many of the essential features of the commercial ACTION Files, SuperBoomerang, and Directory Assistance utilities, but distinguishes itself by not including some infrequently used extras. By doing this, Default Folder provides faster, more stable, more memory-efficient operation than competitive offerings. Default Folder is also fully compatible with both Navigation Services and "classic" Open and Save dialogs.

Default Folder is available for US$25. You can find more information at the St. Clair Software web site.
