Democracy Player Updated to Version 0.9.6

Democracy has updated the Democracy Player to version 0.9.6. The newest version of the video player supports folder watching, playback resume, auto-updating and more.

The update, the last before the name change to Miro, also adds a minimize tray to windows, adds resize and cache thumbnails for smoother images, and the native ability to play audio files on the Mac.


Democracy Player

Democracy player is a free, open source video player. It will play virtually any video format, QuickTime, WMV, MPEG, AVI, XVID, and more. The user can subscribe to any video RSS feed, podcast, or video Blog. Over 1,000 free channels are in the built-in Channel Guide. It will download and save videos from YouTube, Google Video and Yahoo Video.

HD video in full screen format is supported.

"Democracy Player keeps online video open by letting you connect to all of the big video hosting sites and thousands of independent publishers, all in one place," according to the publisher.

Democracy Player 0.9.6 is a Universal Application. It requires Mac OS X 10.3 or later and QuickTime 7. Some video formats require Mac OS X 10.4 or later. It is free.
