Digidesign Debuts Pro Tools M-Powered 7; Upgrade Extends Peripheral Support

Digidesign on Friday introduced Pro Tools M-Powered 7, an update to the audio workstation software that extends support for five of M-Audiois USB peripherals: Black Box, M-Audio Ozone, MobilePre USB, Fast Track USB and Transit. Other changes include expanded MIDI and recording and editing capabilities, better power and flexibility when mixing audio and increased efficiency and ease of use.

Pro Tools M-Powered now supports 16 M-Audio devices. New tools added to the software include Instrument Tracks, which helps integrate virtual instruments with a track; real-time MIDI processing; the ability to group any combination of audio and/or MIDI regions together when building alternate arrangements; and more. In addition, Pro Tools now supports REX and ACID file types.

Current registered Pro Tools M-Powered users are eligible for free upgrades to version 7. The new software will be available Oct. 28.
