DOOM 3 for Mac, which will be published by Aspyr, has hit beta status. The title is expected to ship in February, 2005, and is now available for preorder at holiday pricing of US$39.99.
Originally written by ID Software, a game shop known for writing hardware-crushing titles, will be the first Mac game to require a G5 processor. It will also ship on DVD (rather than CD), and requires at least 64MB of video RAM.
Doom was among the original first-person shooter games, and Doom 3 revisits the original Doom storyline through an all-new, greatly more sophisticated game engine.
