EMC Corp. to Update Retrospect with Tiger Support on May 5 [UPDATED]

EMC Corp. has announced that on May 5 it will make available an update for the Macintosh version of EMC Dantz Retrospect that brings Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger" compatibility to the data backup software. The upgrade will also add support for Extended Metadata and Access Control Lists, two new file system-related features of Tiger.

This will be a free upgrade for owners of the Retrospect Home and Home Office Editions as well as the Server and Workgroup Editions aimed at larger businesses. The Server version protects up to 100 clients while the Workgroup version protects up to 20; the Home versions cover two users. The Home versions provide the same functionality as the business editions, except for their inability to back up to tape autoloaders and libraries as well as their inability to back up data across multiple LANs.

All versions of EMC Dantz Retrospect require Mac OS X v10.1.5 or OS X Server v10.1.5 or higher, 200MB free hard drive space and 128MB RAM (256MB recommended) for the Home and Home Office Editions and 256MB (512MB recommended) for the Server and Workgroup Editions.

UPDATE: This update is now available on VersionTracker.
