Epson Intros a Pair of Photo Printers

Epson America on Tuesday debuted two new six-color photo printers: the Epson Stylus Photo R220 and R340. Both can print directly on the surface of inkjet-printable CDs and DVDs, with the ability to print from the center to the edge of the disc without visible blank space left over.

The Stylus Photo R220 features 5740 x 1440 dpi printing, with the ability to print 4 x 6-inch borderless photos in as fast as 57 seconds. It can also handle 5 x 7-, 8 x 10- and 8.5 x 11-inch prints. Pricing is US$99.

The Stylus Photo R340 offers all the capabilities of the R220 but adds a 2.4-inch LCD for previewing, selecting, cropping and printing photos without using a computer. It can also save images directly to an external CD-R, Zip or flash memory drive, and an optional $69 Bluetooth adapter enables wireless printing from Bluetooth-capable cell phones. Pricing is $199.
