Ms. Welty received the Pulitzer Prize in 1973 for The Optimistis Daughter, and was best known for her stories about life in Mississippi. Mac users might know her best for the application that was named for her, the e-mail application called Eudora. ABC News and CNN have both written excellent obituaries that offer a lot of information about Ms. Welty, as well as comments about her from admirers and friends. The Eudora Web site offers a tribute to Ms. Welty on its home page, as well as a history of the program.
