Expo Attendance Tops 53,000 People On First Day

IDG Japan released attendance figures for the first day of MACWORLD Tokyo. According to the showis organizers, 53,766 people attended the event on the first day alone. The three day event had been expected to draw some 180,000 people, but attendance for Friday, day 2 of the event, seemed sharply down from Thursday. IDG Japan is expected to release figures for Day 2 on Saturday. Thursday was a national holiday in Japan (Vernal Equinox), which probably contributed to the heavy traffic, and vendors we talked to expected Saturdayis traffic to be good as well.

US MACWORLD Expos usually draw from 50,000 to 70,000 attendees, with several recent events having drawn record attendance.
