FTP App Rumpus Gets Universal Binary, More

FTP software Rumpus was upgraded to version 5.0 by Maxum Development on Wednesday, adding built-in support for SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), Universal Binary versions of the application and server daemon, a Dashboard Widget for monitoring server status, a revised Web interface, Open Directory support, and more.

Many other minor feature improvements and bug fixes are also incorporated, including better client compatibility with the Rumpus Web server, support for extended FTP commands, and integration of the Web-based user administration into the Rumpus Web File Manager interface.

Pricing of the Standard Edition is US$269, or $99 as an upgrade. The Professional Edition, which is geared toward large organizations, is $449, or $149 as an upgrade. Anyone who purchased Rumpus after Jan. 1, 2005 can upgrade to Rumpus 5.0 for free. Mac OS X v10.3 is required.
