Fan-based BSG Game Comes to the Mac

Mac fans of the Sci Fi Channelis Battlestar Galactica hoping for the chance to fly a Viper in the fan-made Beyond the Red Line game donit have to wait any longer: A Mac OS X version of the game is now available. The game takes place during the second season of Battlestar Galactica aboard the Battlestar Pegasus and users can fly Mark II Vipers, Mark VII Vipers, or a Raptor in space fights against the Cylons. Graphics are high resolution, and the game includes an original soundtrack and single-player or multi-player missions.

Beyond the Red Line is still in beta testing, so for now it is available in a demo version. It is a Universal Binary, so it runs natively on PowerPC and Intel-based Macs, and requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher.

The game isnit officially sanctioned by the Sci Fi Channel or Universal Studios, but so far there doesnit seem to be any move to stop distribution. Beyond the Red Line is free, and available for download at the Game Warden Web site.
