FileMaker Launches FileMaker Pro 9

FileMaker announced the immediate availability of FileMaker Pro 9 on Tuesday. The new version of the database application added a new Quick Start screen, conditional formatting that highlights data based on user-created parameters, improved SQL support, link emailing so other users can access your databases, and more.

Along with FileMaker Pro 9, the company also released FileMaker Pro 9 Advanced, FileMaker Server 9, and FileMaker Server 9 Advanced.

FileMaker Pro 9 Advanced improved the database Design Report and File maintenance tools, updated the script debugger and data viewer, and added a PHP site assistant link that works in conjunction with the PHP features in FileMaker Server 9.

FileMaker Server 9 added a PHP site assistant that allows non-programmers to create PHP-driven Web sites for FileMaker Pro databases, a redesigned interface, a Web-based server console, an improved installer, shared live data access from external SQL sources, and more.

FileMaker Pro 9 is priced at US$299, and upgrades from FileMaker Pro 7, 8, and 8.5 cost $179. FileMaker Pro 9 Advanced costs $499, and upgrades from FileMaker Developer 7, FileMaker Pro Advanced 8 and 8.5 Advanced are $299.

FileMaker Server 9 is priced at $999, and FileMaker Server 9 Advanced costs $$2,499. Upgrades from FileMaker Server 7 and 8 are $599. Upgrades from FileMaker Server 7 Advanced and 8 Advanced are $1,499.
