FileSalvage 6 Adds Custom File Types

SubRosaSoft.com, Inc. announced the immediate availability of FileSalvage version 6 on Tuesday. The new version allows the user to define custom file types that can be added to the list of file types salvageable from the useris storage device.

Version 6 also adds the ability to search for and find recognized file types embedded within other files, such as mbox format e-mail folders. Finally, version 6 is available on a dual-bootable DVD which can start up from a PPC or Intel Mac.

"FileSalvage 6 is a set of extremely powerful data recovery tools designed to restore files that have been accidentally deleted, become unreadable due to media faults, or stored on a drive before it was re-initialized or formatted. It is device and file system independent, allowing the users to recover files from a normal Mac OS hard drive, USB key, Linux disk, Windows drive, FLASH card, scratched CD, and almost any other media or file system that can be recognized in Mac OS X," according to SubRosaSoft.

FileSalvage 6 is a free update to version 5.0. Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later is required. It is priced at US$89.95 on CD or US$79.95 download only.
