Firewall Security Advisor Update From Open Door

Open Door Networks Inc. has released an update for Whois There? Firewall Advisor, bringing it to version 1.1.12. Whois There? is a firewall security analyzer designed to test and report on database infiltration. The update ships with Norton firewall support and bug fixes. According to Open Door Networks:

Open Door Networks Inc. today announced that it was shipping version 1.1.2 of its Whois There? Firewall Advisor, for both Mac OS 8/9 and for Mac OS X. Whois There? Firewall Advisor enhances Macintosh Internet security by helping users analyze, investigate and respond to access attempts to their Macintosh. Whois There? 1.1.2, makes generally available the versions of Whois There? that are included in Symantecis recently announced Norton Internet Security for Macintosh 2.0 (see "Open Dooris Whois There? Firewall Advisor to be included with Symantecis Norton Internet Security").

Whois There? Firewall Advisor supports Open Dooris DoorStop firewall, Symantecis Norton Personal Firewall, Sustainable Softworks IPNetSentry and any other firewall that uses the Macintosh-standard "WebSTAR" log format. New features of Whois There? 1.1.2 include:

  • Support for Symantecis new Norton Personal Firewall 2.0
  • Support for "ping" and other ICMP access attempts
  • Updated links to service specifications
  • Bug fixes
