FirmTek on Wednesday started shipping its new SeriTek/2eEN4 Serial ATA four-bay enclosure. Priced at US$499.95, the new product can accommodate four hot-swappable 3.5-inch hard drives and offers a 3.0Gbps transfer rate, along with a heat management system that keeps the drives cool with quiet fans and issues warning indicators including lights and an audible alert.
The enclosureis case is made of anodized aluminum, which helps dissipate heat, and its backplane has no internal cabling. It supports host adapter, operating system and software-based RAID or JBOD configurations. A Kensington Security Slot secures the chassis, with a physical lock and key for each hard drive.
