Gary Randazzo of The Idiots Passes Away

I am very sad to report that Gary Randazzo has passed away. Gary died of complications from a heart attack on July 29th, with word making it to us recently.

Gary was one half of the writing team known as Idiots with Sticks, or more commonly, The Idiots. He and his writing partner Randy Soare wrote Name of the Game, one of the first columns we published at The Mac Observer, and the column I most looked forward to editing every week.

That column was eventually rechristened Wasting Time with The Idiots, and together, Randy and Gary were two of the funniest guys in the Mac community.

Many will also remember The Idiots as IWS Interactive (thatis Idiots with Sticks, of course), the developers of a Mac-only game called Manhattan Apartment Hunter that was developed during Appleis decline in the mid-1990s. Gary recently updated the game to work on Mac OS X, which you can download at the above link.

Gary is survived by his wife Jennifer and his son Jack, as well as his mother, Sue Randazzo; father, Gary Randazzo; brothers, Jason Randazzo and Daniel Randazzo; sister, Vanessa Randazzo-Lyons; brother-in-law, Stanton Lyons; and grandmother, Dorothy McNorton.

His family has asked that any donations be made in his name to the American Heart Association.

As part of our goodbye, Randy Soare has written a final Wasting Time with the Idiots column in tribute to his business and writing partner.

Gary Randazzo

Gary was a good lad, and we will miss him dearly.
