Gefen is now shipping FireWire 800 Extender designed for extending the distance between FireWire peripherals and a G5 system. The extender allows supports distances up to 300 feet without the noticeable video lag or image degradation found when sending information beyond the 15ft. threshold. The extender features data rates up to 800 MB per/sec over multimode fiber optic cabling.
