Getty Buys Pixel Images

· by · News

Stock image and photography reseller, Getty Images, has acquired Pixel Images Holdings Limited. The deal cost Getty US$135 million in cash, and marks the second stock image company it has purchased this year. Getty also purchased iStockphoto in early February.

Pixel Images is the Ireland-based parent company for Stockbyte and Stockdisc. Most of Stockbyteis image collection was already being distributed through Getty, and the remainder of its catalog will be added shortly. According to Irish Developer News, once the transition is complete, the Stockbyte and Stockdisc libraries will be available exclusively through Getty.
