Globetrotter PC Card Enables EDGE, GPRS Internet Connections for PowerBooks

Nova Media on Wednesday debuted Globetrotter Combo Edge, a PC Card that enables PowerBook users to connect to the Internet via EDGE- or GRPS-based cellular networks. The card includes a retractable internal antenna, with a connection available for an optional external antenna to boost signal strength.

Mobile High Speed 3G software is also included; it features over 250 connection settings for EDGE- and GPRS-based networks around the world. Globetrotter looks for an EDGE network first and automatically switches to a GPRS connection if it canit find one.

Pricing is €339 (US$409.11), with the optional external antenna available for €39.95 ($48.22). Mac OS X v10.3.9 or higher is required.
