Google Desktop for the Mac Arrives

Google officially unveiled a Mac version of its Google Desktop application on Wednesday. Google Desktop is an application that searches the contents of your hard drive, Gmail account, and integrates with Web searches as well.

It is a Universal Binary, allowing it to run natively on PowerPC and Intel-based Macs, searches file contents and metadata, recognizes Spotlight plug-ins so it can search for the same information that Tigeris built-in search feature does, maintains a searchable Web history, and takes snapshots of text documents so they can be recovered if accidentally deleted.
