Google News Launches RSS, Atom Feeds

· by Brad Gibson · News

Google News has launched a new service enabling its news content to be read as Really Simple Syndication (RSS) or Atom feeds.

RSS is a format for syndicating news and the content of news-like sites and personal weblogs. When a user has a feed reader installed, clicking on either of these links will generate a feed of current stories. The feeds can also be viewed as Web pages as part of Appleis Safari 2.0 Web browser.

Each of the Google News channels -- Top Stories, World, U.S., Business, Science and Technology, Entertainment, Health, and Sports -- have separate feeds that can be found at its main feed page.

Googleis introduction of RSS features for Google News is another prime example of the fast growing popularity of RSS feeds. Recently, Google submitted a patent request for the technology of inserting ads in RSS feeds.
