The original Planet of the Apes movie was ground breaking on many levels, and on par with many of the thought-provoking episodes of The Twilight Zone. Few people know that Rod Serling, the creator The Twilight Zone, also had a big hand in writing the Planet of the Apes movie. Still fewer people know that the movie was based on the novel published in 1963 titled Monkey Planet by Pierre Boulle.

But wait! What if Rod Serling decided that, instead of making a monkey out of Roddy McDowall on the silver screen, he put the Monkey Planet story on the TV screen by making it an episode of The Twilight Zone? Hmmmm!

And what if this ilost episodei of Rod Serlingis eternally famous series was available for your viewing pleasure for free, on the Internet? No monkey-business!

Marc Zicree has actually undergone the monumental task of converting the feature-length motion picture Planet of the Apes into what he thinks it would have looked like as a 30 minute episode of The Twilight Zone, complete with narration from Rod Serling.

We take you now to the Web site of one Marc Scott Zicree, author of The Twilight Zone Companion, and creator of Planet of the Ape - The Twilight Zone episode.

While creating this episode Mr. Zicree enjoyed hours of solitude doing what he loved. Little did Mr. Zicree know that his creation may have originated in lifeless cellulose, but through the magic of modern digital technology, creativity, and a healthy dose of the unknown, his dream would be a reality, and is alive and well, and waiting to greet those curious souls brave enough to surf the Web in ... The Twilight Zone! (Cue cool TTZ music.)
