The Photosmart M22 and M23 are essentially identical in their casing except for a difference in color: the M23 is bronze, not silver. Both cameras sport a 4 megapixel CCD. The M22 comes bundled with disposable alkaline batteries and offers a 6x digital zoom. The M23 includes NiMH rechargeable batteries (with an AC adapter for in-camera charging) and offers a maximum of 7x digital zoom. The M22 carries an MSRP of US$149; the M23 costs $169.

The Photosmart M417 is a step higher in resolution, at 5.2 megapixels. It also features a 3x optical zoom, an optical viewfinder and a 1.8-inch LCD display. The camera has 16MB of built-in memory and uses two AA batteries. The M417 carries an MSRP of $199.

Finally HP announced a variant of the Photosmart R607 digital camera that honors their sponsorship of the BMW Williams F1 team. The camera sports a blue finish with Williamsi logo, but otherwise the camera is the original Photosmart R607.

The Photosmart cameras have 16MB of internal memory (the R607 and R717 have 32MB) and use Secure Digital media. They are slated to ship this spring.
