January 29th, 2004 at 2:00 PM - News by Mike Washlesky

OiReilly & Associates has published a new book of hardware hacking projects titled: "Hardware Hacking Projects for Geeks". Written by Scott Fullam, the book examines the art of re-purposing electronic devices and features step-by-step hacks for novice geeks. According to OiReilly & Associates:

Put a hacker in a room with a Furby for a weekend and youill hear a conversation thatis fairly one-sided. Toss in an 802.11b network card, a soldering iron, wire cutters, a logic probe, and a few other carefully selected tools and materials and youill have potential. Add a copy of "Hardware Hacking Projects for Geeks" by Scott Fullam and by the end of the weekend that Furby will be saying things you never imagined.

From How to Hack a Toaster to building Cubicle Intrusion Detection Systems, "Hardware Hacking Projects for Geeks" offers an array of inventive, customized electronics projects for the geek who canit help looking at a gadget and wondering how it might be "upgraded."

You can find more information about "Hardware Hacking Projects for Geeks" at the OiReilly & Associates Web site. The book is available for US$29.95.
