At next weekis Lotusphere conference, IBMis Software Group will announce that it has added Mac OS X support to the latest version of Lotus Notes. In addition, the company will "pledge big-time suppor for the new Intel-based Macs due later this year," according to an article at InformationWeek.
Reporter Barbara Darrow, citing unnamed sources, said that while Lotus Notes 6.5 supports Mac OS X, Lotus Notes 7 has not offered that so far. She quoted Jim Murphy, practice manager for Strategic Computer Solutions, as saying that while Macs are used by around 1% of the employees in the research departments at many of his customers, "they have 99% of the influence."
An IBM spokesman declined to comment.
