IOXperts has released v. 1.0.2 of its 802.11b driver for Mac OS 9. Like their current Mac OS X wireless driver, it supports more than 60 different 802.11b wireless networking cards on PowerBooks equipped with PC Card slots. This new release also fixes some bugs and includes support for the Short Preamble feature, which is intended to improve network throughput when transmitting streaming video or voice.

IOXpertsi 802.11b drivers give Mac users a broad choice of wireless cards, including many popular models from Agere, Lucent, Linksys, and Netgear. The drivers support AppleTalk (with an AppleTalk-compatible base station), 64- and 128-bit WEP, and listing of available networks. Microsoftis Broadband Wireless Notebook Adapter (MN-520), and the Siemens SpeedStream Wireless PCMCIA Card are now supported, too.

IOXpertsi OS 9 802.11b drivers are available now for US$19.95. A trial version that runs for 30 minutes at a time is also available. You can check to see if your card and computer are supported at IOXpertsi Web site.
