Tom Kilroy, Intelis general manager of its digital entertainment group, told the Intel Developer Forum in Taipei that the company plans to move to 45-nanometer (nm) manufacturing technology late next year, which will boost Core 2 Duo performance by 20%. According to IDG News, the smaller chips will also have five times less leakage than current processors.
Next yearis move will precede Intelis next micro-architecture, currently known as Nehalem, which will boast a 300% performance per watt increase when it arrives in 2008. It will also use 45nm manufacturing technology.
