Iomega Introduces New USB/FireWire Hard Drives

Iomega Corp. announced Thursday a new family of sleeker, stackable external hard drives for Macs and Windows-based PCs.

The new lineup begions with the three USB 2.0 only drives in 120 gigabyte, 160GB, and 250GB sizes starting at US$159. They will begin shipping to dealers and customers October 5.

Dual-Interface USB 2.0 and FireWire 400 drives in 120GB, 160GB, and 250GB capacities will start (shipping October 15 for $179 to $269.

Triple-Interface USB 2.0, FireWire 400, and FireWire hard drives in 160GB, 250GB and 400GB capacities will be available November 5 starting at $209.

The new 7200RPM drives feature a stackable design, can be used vertically, and come equipped with Iomegais Automatic Backup software. Existing Iomega Desktop USB 2.0 HDD drives, with capacities of 80GB, 120GB, 160GB, and 250GB, will remain available.
