K4 Publishing System Update From SoftCare

SofCare GmbH has released an update for K4, bringing it to version 3.2. K4 is a publishing system designed for use with Adobe InDesign and InCopy. The update ships with several new features including customizable header fields and text driven layout management. According to SoftCare GmbH:

SoftCare GmbH, a Germany-based software company, have announced the release of version 3.2 of their K4 Publishing System. K4 is a collaborative publishing system for magazines that integrates Adobe® InDesign&Mac173; and Adobe® InCopy&Mac173; with an open and scalable SQL database. The system has been successfully implemented at European magazine sites ranging in size from 15 to 250 users.

K4 version 3.2 incorporates a number of new features. Header fields for articles and layouts can be customized to better fit the company-specific workflow. Header data can be edited without checking out a file. Furthermore, a layout view in InCopy enables the editor-in-chief to view the complete layout containing the current text of all included articles with a single mouse-click.

Version 3.2 also introduces text-before-layout functionality to accommodate text-driven workflows. Articles can now be managed in the database long before they are assigned to a specific layout. In addition, articles can be easily detached from and reassigned to layouts while preserving the article&Mac247;s geometry.
