Keyboard Layout App Updated With Jag Support

Rainer Brockerhoff has released an update for "U.S. - International" keyboard layout, bringing it to version 1.1. U.S. International is a keyboard layout designed to emulate the accented characters and key sequences of the widely used Windows platform. The update features OS 10.2 support. According to Rainer Brockerhoff:

Rainer Brockerhoff announces the release of version 1.1 of the "U.S. - International" keyboard layout, now compatible with Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar).

Many international users have keyboards with the U.S. layout, and are accustomed to typing accented characters with the key sequences of the Windows "U.S. - International" keyboard layout. They often donit wish to get used to the Macis option-key sequences for accented characters, and many mistakenly complain that "the Mac doesnit allow accented characters at all".

This is a Mac version of the "U.S. - International" keyboard. It duplicates as closely as possible the Window key sequences, while keeping most of the option-key sequences intact. The layout file is easily installed in Jaguar by dragging it into the /Library/Keyboard Layouts folder, and in Classic by dragging it onto the System Folder.

You can find more information about the "U.S. - International" keyboard layout update at the Rainer Brockerhoff Web site. The keyboard layout is available as freeware.
