LaCie introduced Tuesday the LaCie Golden Disk, a designer hard drive enclosure with a gold-like finish. Designed by French designer Ora-?to, the USB 2.0 hard drive enclosure supports up to 500 GB hard drives, and LaCie said the finish on the unit contains "a small percentage of real gold."
Referring to the idea of a designer hard drive enclosure, LaCie said, "the liquid-inspired device will become the focal point for any design conscience customer looking to add glitz to their work environment." The Golden Disk ships with a back up utility, and is cross-platform. It will ship in October, and starts at US$189.
