@Last Software Purchased by Google

SketchUp 3D design software developer, @Last Software, announced on Tuesday that is has been purchased by Internet search giant Google. @Last states that it will continue with business as usual and maintain its headquarters in Boulder, Colorado. Terms of the deal were not released, but the @Last company name will be phased out and replaced with Google.

@Last had previously worked with Google to develop a SketchUp plug-in for Google Earth.

Brad Schell, @Last co-founder, says that the company is still committed to developing SketchUp, and that version 6 is in the works now. He commented "Looking ahead, the product will improve, the user experience will get better, and the community will grow. I think the future of SketchUp is brighter than itis ever been before."
