MacPlay has announced the development of Freedom Force for Mac gamers. Freedom Force, by Crave Entertainment, is a game with a "Silver Age" comic book theme and characters. Gamers lead a team of superheroes against an evil alien race bent on conquering Earth. According to MacPlay:
MacPlay, a subsidiary of United Developers, announced today that it has reached agreement with Crave Entertainment to bring 3 of its top properties to the Macintosh platform. The first title scheduled for release is Freedom Force, a flash back to the Silver Age of comic books in which players can form, train, and lead Freedom Force, a team of 14 original comic heroes.
From a distant corner of the galaxy, an evil alien race sets in motion a sinister plan to conquer the Earth. They unleash a powerful catalyst known as Energy X that imbues the planets worst miscreants with super powers to bring the planet to its knees. Now Earths only hope lies with a new breed of heroes. Enter: The Freedom Force!
Freedom Force contains 22 unique missions, the majority of which will require a squad of four heroes such as the patriotic leader Minuteman, the powerful Manbot and the fiery El Diablo. A fully featured RPG skill system rewards strategic heroes by allowing players to juggle stats, pump up powers, recruit new heroes and strengthen existing heroes based on experience accumulated in tactical missions. The games enhanced mod element allows players to completely customize and/or create their own unique heroes and personal skins.
