Mac OS X 10.4.10 Version 1.1 vs. Audio Update

On Monday, Apple posted the Audio Update 2007-001. It also published Mac OS X 10.4.10 Version 1.1 which duplicates the audio update. Only one is needed, and only Intel Macs are affected.

According to Apple, the update addresses an issue with Mac OS X 10.4.10 which caused a popping sound with some external speakers used with Intel Macs.

Apple has also made available the Mac OS X 10.4.10 version 1.1 Update. Both updates are described in artnum 305840. The article also explains that "Version 1.1 of the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Update is not affected by this issue and does not require the Audio Update 2007-001 update."

Neither of these updates applies to PPC Macs, and if you apply one, you donit need the other. As some readers have noted, just let Software Update hand hold this process. It will know what to do.

With luck, the Audio Update 2007-001 is just part of the formal numbering process, weire done, and itis not a portent for 2007-002.
