To perform this task, ABDialer can use any standard modem or mobile phone connected to the Macintosh and, optionally, it can play touch-tones directly to the phone using the computer speaker.

ABDialer provide various customization options, including the ability to show the ABDialer Menu in the main menu bar. With this option enabled, ABDialer make available the full phonebook in the main menu, permitting the user to dial the phone without leave the application currently in use.
