Media 100 Continues Buying Spree With ICE Acquisition

Consolidation on the video editing industry continues apace with the announcement that Media 100 would be acquiring "key technology assets and intellectual properties" from Integrated Computing Engines (ICE). Both companies are long time players in the video capture and editing markets and both have been big players in the Mac market. The acquisition is intended to boost Media 100is streaming video product line. According to Media 100:

Media 100 Inc. today announced it has acquired key technology assets and intellectual properties from ICE (Integrated Computing Engines). Media 100 assumes ownership, and will continue the production of key accelerator solutions from ICE. ICE technology currently is integrated into Media 100is flagship Media Cleaner PowerSuite streaming media production system. ICE acceleration technology significantly increases the speed and quality of the compression process for streaming media content - critical to Internet broadcasters and web designers creating large quantities of streaming media content for immediate, high quality delivery over the Internet. Terms of the asset acquisition were not disclosed. "Media 100 leads the industry in delivering high-quality, high-performance streaming media production solutions, and we are continually looking at ways to push the performance envelope while increasing image quality," said Tony Dolph, vice president of business development for Media 100. "ICE technology will drive increased performance and quality while enabling us to deliver a more satisfying and seamless experience to our users."
