Miro 1.2 Re-architected for Future Growth

· by · News

The free, open source Internet media viewer, Miro, was updated to version 1.2 on Thursday. The new version adds new preferences, an update to XULRunner 1.9, and a re-architecting of front and back end code. The re-architecting "... also lays the groundwork for some big improvements that are coming soon," the Miro project said.

Miro 1.2 is a free, open source media player that allows the user to access and program thousands of Internet video channels, view and save YouTube videos, and play any video file.

In Mac OS X, Miro has updated to Perian 1.1.

The full list of changes can be found at the Miro blog.

Miro 1.2 is available for Windows XP, Vista, Linux, and Mac OS X 10.3 or later. Some video formats require Mac OS 10.4 or later. Miro is free.
