My Dream App Enters Semi-Finals With Free Voice Candy

The contest My Dream App entered the semi-finals on Saturday, with all voters this round receiving free copies of Voice Candy, a voice recorder with filter effects and voice reminders. Guest judges for the semi-finals include Digg.com co-founder Kevin Rose, New York Times tech columnist David Pogue, and This Week in Techis Leo Laporte. They join a panel of judges that include Macworld editors Jim Dalrymple, Peter Cohen and Jason Snell, MacAddict editor-in-chief Rik Myslewski, and Your Mac Life host Shawn King.

Nine software ideas remain in the contest: Cookbook, the real-time strategy game Desktop Wars, the discussion forum browser Hijack, the file syncing utility Portal, the music software Whistler, the virtual weather guide Atmosphere, the "Getting Things Done" productivity tool iGTD, the virtual plant Blossom, and Ground Control, described as "Dashboard done right." The three finalists with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated, but theyill receive Mac mini computers as their consolation gifts.
