Napster? We Don't Need No Stinking Napster

You are not the only one concerned about the future of Napster. Chaotic Software has you covered, and the latest version of MP3 Rage includes support for other MP3 servers. According to Chaotic Software:

Chaotic Software just released MP3 Rage 2.7 with support for alternate Napster-compatible servers (e.g. OpenNap) so Napster searches and downloads can continue even if Napster, Inc. is shut down.

MP3 Rage is the definitive collection of tools for MP3 enthusiasts. You can search for and download thousands of MP3is from the Internet using the Napster(tm) music sharing system, edit ID3 tags, export MP3 files to AIFF format for burning CDis, play MP3 files, catalog, organize, rename, find, and change thousands of MP3 files and their ID3 tags quickly and painlessly. It does all this with a clean, powerful, and easy-to-use interface.

MP3 Rage 2.7 change history:

  • Added support for dozens of Napster-compatible servers (e.g. OpenNap) other than the server provided by Napster, Inc. This will allow MP3 Rage to search and download MP3is using the Napster(tm) system even if the servers provided by Napster, Inc are shut down. Simply click on an alternate server.
  • Added cancel button to downloads window to make canceling easier (delete and cmd-period still work).
  • Added disconnect button to allow alternate servers to be connected to without relaunching the application.

MP3 Rage is available for US$24.95. You can find more information at the Chaotic Software web site.
