Netboot and Admin Tools In OS X Server

Apple has added two new OS X Server-related articles to the Knowledge Base. One refers to OS X Server 10.2is Netboot being able to use 2GB and smaller images, and the other explains an issue installing Admin Tools. Appleis Knowledge Base (sometimes referred to as the KBase) is a central location for all of Appleis support documents and other important information.

The version of NetBoot included with OS X Server 10.2 and later supports the use of 2GB and smaller images. The very brief article from Apple:

The version of NetBoot included with Mac OS X Server 10.2 or later can use client images that are smaller than 2 GB.

When attempting to install from the Admin Tools CD, you may recieve an error message stating that OS X Client or OS X Server 10.2.3 is needed. The solution is to update to 10.2.3. According to Apple:

Symptom

You cannot use the Admin Tools CD to install on the server. You see a message that "Mac OS X Client" or Mac OS X Server 10.2.3 is required for installation.

Solution

This installation will not occur if you try to reinstall the Admin Tools on a Mac OS X Server 10.2.3 or later volume. If you need to reinstall the Admin Tools on a Mac OS X Server 10.2.3 or later volume, use the Mac OS X Server 10.2.3 or later installation CD.
