New Firmware May Have Fixed MacBook Pro Cooling Issues

The new Intel firmware Apple issued on Tuesday seems to have fixed the excessive heat issues experienced by many MacBook Pro owners, although the company was unclear on the contents of the update and wonit publicly speak about it.

According to InformationWeek, users are reporting that "the update seemed to increase the MacBook Prois use of its fans, and using diagnostic tools, claimed that their machines were running up to eight degrees cooler." Some owners are reporting an odd whining sound coming from their laptops, however, and feedback on whether the new firmware fixed that issue is mixed.

One Web site, OSX86Project.org, has called for a wide-scale phone-in protest this Saturday, May 20, to draw attention to the problems. As The Mac Observer posted this article, it had not changed those plans.
