New Mac/PC Shootouts Available

· by · News

System Shootouts has updated its Web site to include comparisons of the Mac mini to the AOpen MiniPC, the 15-inch MacBook Pro to Aceris TravelMate 8200, Appleis new 17 and 20-inch Intel-based iMacs to Dellis XPS 200 product line, and more. The shootouts aim to offer unbiased feature comparisons between similarly specced computer systems.

In Mac to PC comparisons, Appleis computers tended to fare better than their PC counterparts, despite the fact that the Macs typically had far less RAM. In Mac to Mac comparisons, the Intel-based models ranked better overall than the PowerPC models.

The MacBook Pro, Appleis Intel-based replacement for the PowerPC-based PowerBook, was marked down for its lack of a FireWire 800 port, and display lower resolution. The current aluminum PowerBook G4 has a 15.2-inch 1440x960 display. The MacBook Pro has a slightly larger 15.4-inch display, with 1440X900 resolution.
