Newer Technology Inc. announced Thursday the addition of 320 gigabyte (GB) and 500GB models of its miniStack storage units.
The new miniStacks join 80, 160 and 400GB models and retail for US$289.99 for the 320GB model and $499.99 for the 500GB unit.
Both new miniStacks feature 7200RPM hard disk mechanisms with an 8 megabyte data buffer. The miniStack is designed to fit on top of or underneath the Mac mini.
Each miniStack features a smart power switch so the drive turns on with the mini, a thermal probe that automatically regulates and varies fan speed according to the temperature, and an integrated 2-Port FireWire and 3-Port USB 2.0/1.1 hub for additional devices.
The dimensions of the miniStack are 6.5 inches x 6.5 inches x 1.5 inches.
