Nikon Announces Coolpix 5900 and 7900 Digital Cameras

< A href="http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1">Nikon announced Wednesday two new compact Coolpix digital cameras with either 5.1 or 7.1 megapixel imagers.

The new additions to the Coolpix family are the 5.1-megapixel Coolpix 5900 and the 7.1-megapixel Coolpix 7900.

Imaging Resource described the cameras as: "Both cameras -- at 5.3 ounces -- share a similar body with a Zoom Nikkor ED 3x optical zoom lens, 2.0-inch LCD display, Secure Digital and 13.5 megabytes of built-in memory for storage, USB connectivity, and switchable NTSC/PAL video output."

Both cameras have Nikonis Rey-Eye Fix technology to correct red eyes, 16 scene modes, and have NikonÕs new Face-priority AF function that ensures an accurate focus when shooting portraits by automatically sensing the presence of a human face within the frame and setting accurate focus accordingly.

The Coolpix 5900 will go on sale in March for US$349.95, while the Coolpix 7900 will follow in April for $449.95.
