Tiger Cache Cleaner was updated by Northern Softworks on Thursday to version 3.2.5. This new version includes TCC Portable which allows users of TCC to install a fully functional version on a flash drive or iPod. This feature allows testing a Macis hard disk, display, battery, and RAM before buying it. In addition, the new version adds these major features:

  • Now a Universal Application (App and TCC engine)
  • Executing /usr/local/tcc while in single user mode runs fsck, executes the cron scripts, cleans caches, and repairs permissions
  • The energy saver reset function has been improved
  • Updated to work with Mac OS X 10.4.9 (when released)

Northern Softworks described the product as follows: "Tiger Cache Cleaner makes system maintenance simple with an easy point and click interface to many OS X functions. Tiger Cache Cleaner can improve system performance by tuning internet and file cache settings, implementing ram disks, and cleaning out various cached and stale data. TCC can recover wasted disk space by eliminating language localization files and slimming Universal Binaries. Tiger Cache Cleaner is the only utility in its class to ship with powerful ClamAV antivirus built in. If disaster strikes, the power of Tiger Cache Cleaner is available at the command prompt in Single User Mode."

Tiger Cache Cleaner requires Mac OS X 10.2.8 through 10.4.9 and the BSD subsystem. As of this version, it is a Universal Application. TCC is priced at US$8.99.
