Now Software on Tuesday shipped version 5 of Now Up-to-Date & Contact, an update to its calendar and personal information management software that adds support for Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger" as well as a host of new features, including Schedule View, Now Server Manager and more. The company promised that later this year it will ship free Tiger-specific updates that include Dashboard widgets and Spotlight support.
Schedule View enables meeting planners to simultaneously display multiple usersi calendars when setting up events while Now Server Manager simplifies the creation of group calendars and shared contact information. In addition, new import and export features offer drag-and-drop support for iCal and vCards, as well as subscriptions to published iCal schedules. Now noted that it also redesigned the softwareis user interface and made "dozens of general enhancements and improvements," according to a press release.
Pricing is US$129.95 for a boxed copy or $119.95 as a download, with upgrades from version 4.x available for $49.95. Anyone who bought the software after March 28, 2005 can upgrade for free, however, and discounts are available for volume purchases as well as educational use. Now Up-to-Date & Contact 5 is compatible with version 4.5.3 of the Mac OS X edition, with support for Mac OS Classic still available in version 4.0.3. The Now Server Manager supports version 4.0.3 or higher, and version 5 clients can access existing Now Up-to-Date & Contact 4 servers.
