Panic Updates Transmit With Speed Boosts

· by Mike Washlesky · News

Panic has released an update for Transmit, bringing it to version 2.5. Transmit is an FTP client designed for Web development and management. The update features speed enhancements, new functions, and bug fixes. According to Panic:

In a continuing and bordering-on-obsessive effort to make Transmit the absolute best FTP client for Mac OS X, Panic is proud to announce the release of Transmitis latest revision: 2.5.

Transmit 2.5 adds significant speed increases throughout the application. SFTP transfers are now up to 4 times faster, directory listings are cached for instant navigation, and directories are now parsed up to 5 times faster than Transmit 2.3.

Furthermore, Transmit 2.5 adds a handful of new features, like a "New File" menu option to create an empty file on a remote server, a customizable redial delay, support for TextWrangler and BBEdit Lite, better AppleScript support, an Italian localization, and much more. Plus, there are the bug fixes, of course. Everybody loves the bug fixes.

You can find more information about the Transmit update at the Panic Web site. Transmit 2.5 is free for registered users, while the full version is available for US$24.95.
