Project Magma has released a Beta of a Universal Binary for the enduring real-time strategy game Myth II. Version 1.6 also includes Mac OS X native versions of Bungieis Fear & Loathing tools for creating Myth mods, as well as the ability to share the processor with other processes by capping the frame rate.
Other changes include a 1.5.1 compatibility mode for playing online against others who have that version or the new one. In addition, many bugs have been fixed. Players will need to have a retail copy of Myth II: Soulblighter to use this update.
While the Myth series is no longer in active development, Project Magma and PlayMyth.net have kept it alive by issuing new unit plug-ins, new campaigns, new versions of the games, and other content. The public Beta of Myth II 1.6 is being hosted by TheTain.net, which bills itself as "your source for high-bandwidth Myth downloads."
