QuarkXPress Licensing Now Cross-platform

· by · News

Quark announced on Monday that the licensing scheme for QuarkXPress 7 is changing so that a single license will work on both Mac OS X and Windows. The new platform-independent licensing allows users to install QuarkXPress 7 on two computers, regardless of operating system.

The licensing change is a big departure for Quark, which has always used platform-dependent license codes. It also gives QuarkXPress users a financial advantage over Adobe InDesign users since Adobeis applications use platform-dependent licenses.

Quark has been aggressively changing its licensing schemes now that QuarkXPress 7 is shipping. Earlier in November, the company changed its upgrade licensing so that users can run QuarkXPress 6 and a QuarkXPress 7 upgrade license on the same computer.
