RE:Vision Effects on Monday released RE:Map, a set of four mapping and distortion plug-ins for use with After Effects 5.0, Discreetis combustion 2.1, eyeon softwareis Digital Fusion 4.04e or Fusion 5, Appleis Final Cut Pro 4.0 and Motion 1.0, Borris Red 3.0 and other software compatible with After Effects plug-ins. The set is US$149.95, or $29.95 for a render-only license.
RE:Map includes four plug-ins: RE:Map UV, which renders an image from a UV Map and enables the creation of 2D and 3D animated texture map templates for reuse in different sequences; RE:Map Distort, which automatically distorts an image and creates a caricature; RE:Map Displace, which warps an image with a displacement map supplied by the user; and RE:Map Planar, which maps or inverse maps a perspective plane.
RE:Vision Effects noted, however, that there is no Intel processor support for using RE:Map with Final Cut Pro or Motion. The company did not say when it will introduce a Universal Binary for RE:Map.
